Staff Accountant - Manufacturing
Compensation

About My Client
My client is a manufacturing organization seeking a Staff Accountant to support cost accounting, financial reporting, inventory functions, and cross-functional operations. This role is onsite at my client's manufacturing facility and will work closely with leadership, operations, and accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and transmit bank wire transactions
- Process Visa payments and reconcile merchant transmittals
- Provide annual financial information for workers' compensation insurance renewal
- Prepare annual 1099, 1094C, and 1095C filings
- Perform GL account reconciliations and create correction entries
- Support cost accounting activities, including variance monitoring and project cost tracking
- Provide tax-related data to external accounting partners for annual returns
- File monthly workers' comp reports and assist with annual payroll audits
- Submit monthly Department of Labor reporting
- Send monthly bank balances and financial statements to parent organization
- Reconcile inter-company accounts
- Review bank accounts and support banking-related processes
- Assist AP/AR as needed, including reconciliations and cross-department communication
- Partner with inventory, purchasing, and operations to resolve discrepancies
- Help navigate customer portals (including SPS)
- Contribute to continuous improvement and month-end close efficiency
Requirements & Qualifications
- 3-5 years of manufacturing or cost accounting experience required
- Full-cycle accounting experience (minimum 5 years)
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge in:
- Cost accounting
- Variance analysis
- Absorption/COGS
- Month-end closing
- Financial reporting and GAAP
- Strong Excel skills (intermediate level)
- Ability to collaborate across departments and provide constructive operational feedback
- Ability to work onsite full-time and wear multiple hats as needed
- Tenure matters - my client prefers candidates who remain in roles more than 1-2 years unless exiting for a strong reason (education, certifications, etc.)
Education
- Associate degree in Accounting required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Work Environment
- Onsite role in a manufacturing office setting
- Standard schedule: 9-5 (some team members work 8-4)
- Requires computer work for extended periods and occasional light lifting for filing
